Center For Women

Reaching Goals Together

Now well into its third decade, the Center for Women has helped more than 70,000 Lowcountry women attain their personal and professional goals.

Established in 1990, the Center has served the women of Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties through a wide range of educational workshops and seminars, community involvement and cooperation with other area organizations. Its efforts have been cited and received donations from Oprah’s Angel Network in 2006; the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce in 2009; the Family Circle Cup, which chose the C4W as its charity of choice from 2006 through 2010; and the South Carolina Association of Non-profit Organizations.

The Center for Women, an exhibitor and sponsor of Mount Pleasant Magazine’s Charleston’s Women’s Show, offers an array of educational programs, including its Brown Bag Lunch Series, Women and Power Series, Annual Women in Business Conference, Women’s Leadership Institute and Women Writers Forum. Among additional options are networking events, development and empowerment workshops, book signings and art exhibits.

The Center for Women works with community-based organizations such as Trident United Way, My Sister’s House, Crisis Ministries, People Against Rape, Darkness to Light, Habitat for Humanity, Family Services Center, Dress for Success and Carolina Youth Development Center. The C4W also played a key role with Lowcountry Women Vote, a coalition urging women to make their voices heard at the polls.
